The Bird Park is in Villars-les-Dombes, halfway between Lyon and Bourg-en-Bresse, in the heart of Dombes, in the department of Ain (Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region).
By car :
- 30 minutes from Lyon by the motorway A46, exit n°3 Villars-les-Dombes
- 1h30 from Geneva and Annecy by the motorway A40, exit Pont d’Ain, 30 minutes from Bourg-en-Bresse, by the road 1083
- 1h30 from Chambéry and Grenoble by the motorway A43 direction Paris, then the A432 (bypass from the airport St Exupéry), exit n°3 Villars-les-Dombes
- Free carpark available for visitors
By train:
- 30 minutes by train from the SNCF train station Lyon-Part-Dieu and Bourg-en-Bresse
- 20 minutes by foot from the train station Villars-Les-Dombes

The Park is entirely accessible to people with disabilities. All facilities are designed to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility. For example, the panoramic tower is equipped with 2 lifts providing access to the 3 main observation levels, up to the summit at 27m high.
