The carefully created plant environments give the birds a proper milieu in which they can exhibit natural behavior. It's good for their health…and for reproduction!
Visitors also profit from the experience: they get a better understanding of how plants and animals depend on each other and interact. Each enclosure recreates a biotope in miniature.
The Park is built around a central pond with mostly local plants, i.e., plant species from the Dombes region, with beds of bulrushes (also known as cattails) and reeds. Immediately surrounding the pond is an area with small trees and brushes, particularly willows.
Exotic areas near the pond, with their specific vegetation, are easy to recognize. We have been careful to reconstitute the landscape ambiances of these far-off regions. |
